Fatal Gunfight at Mall of Louisiana: One Dead, Five Injured as Five Suspects Are Detained

A shooting at the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge on Thursday afternoon left one person dead and five others wounded after an argument between two groups escalated into an exchange of gunfire in the food court.

The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m., sending shoppers and employees scrambling for cover as law enforcement, including the FBI and local police, swarmed the area to secure the scene and evacuate the building. While initial reports suggested as many as ten people had been injured, authorities later revised the count and confirmed that five suspects have been taken into custody.

Police Chief TJ Morse stated that the shooting was not a random attack but a confrontation between specific individuals, and officials emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
